Exoprimal post-launch content and seasons

Exoprimal post-launch content support has ended, Capcom has announced. The “not Dino Crisis” multiplayer game released in July 2023 on current and last-gen platforms to a mixed reception. Despite launching on a number of platforms and on Xbox Game Pass, Exoprimal didn’t quite take off.

When happens after the end of Exoprimal post-launch content?

Capcom has said that Exoprimal Season 4 will come to an end on July 11, following which the game will revert back to Season 1. A new “Season” will begin on the first of each month for the foreseeable future, but it won’t contain any new content. In other words, everything that’s been released thus far will simply get recycled.

Exoprimal Season Passes 1-3 will be going on sale again, allowing players to grab all the premium items that they want. As for Savage Gauntlet ranks, they will no longer be tabulated after trial 41.

Capcom has stressed that everything Exoprimal has to offer will remain online and accessible… at least for now. “If you’re playing alone or match with only a few other players, Bots (AI-controlled Exofighters) will still be added so that you can fully enjoy the Hammerheads’ story and reach the ending,” the publisher added.

For more information, head over to Exoprimal’s official website.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess Okami Items

During the Capcom Next show, the publisher released a demo for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess that allows players to unlock Okami tie-in items. By working together and completing a challenge, the Okami collaboration weapons and costumes can be unlocked for free in time for the game’s release later this month.

How to get the Okami items for free

The Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess demo offers several early stages from the main game that can be replayed as many times as wanted. While doing this, players have to collaboratively complete two challenges across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The deadline for completing these is 3:59 BST on July 18, 2024, when the demo will be removed from the PlayStation Store.

The first challenge is to exorcise the defilement or the Seethe to drop a total of one billion crystals in the demo. Completing this will unlock Amaterasu’s Soh costume and the Thunder Edge weapon.

The second challenge is to find 15 of the hidden Lucky Mallets. Those who find the mallets must then take a photo of their achievement and post the picture as a reply to the campaign post on X (formerly Twitter). Completing this will unlock Waka’s Yoshiro costume and a special Okami collaboration soundtrack. Knowing that Twitter integration has been removed from PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Capcom says that players can take a picture of their TV/monitor screen via devices such as smartphone if trying to transfer an image via the console’s photo-sharing feature is too cumbersome.

The game’s official website features a progress tracker for both challenges, although this doesn’t update in real-time. If the two challenge targets are met, the items will be delivered in a free title update at launch on July 19. Capcom didn’t specify what would happen if players didn’t manage to complete the challenge, although we assume the items will be available from the PlayStation Store at a later date.

Frank West, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Dead Rising‘s Frank West voice actor Terence Rotolo won’t be returning for the Deluxe Remaster, and fans wanted to know why, so they went direct to the source. Capcom announced that the game will feature “new, high-end character modeling for Frank West,” but it was quickly noticed that the character’s voice wasn’t the same either.

Frank West voice actor not returning for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster because Capcom didn’t call him

In response to a fan’s Instagram DM shared by X users FrankByDaylight and rxysinister, Rotolo thanked fans for their support and revealed that he simply wasn’t contacted for the role. From the sound of his message, it sounded like Rotolo would have jumped at the opportunity, but alas, this time Capcom decided to go with someone else.

“I’ve always been grateful for every opportunity to bring Frank to life,” Rotolo wrote. “I simply wasn’t called for this mission. The reasons are the producer’s own.”

There is some speculation that Capcom avoided Rotolo because he is part of a union. Although there’s no proof of this, the games industry does seem to continue expressing a strong dislike for unions.

That said, Rotolo is a recurring voice in Resident Evil games, so it’s entirely possible that Capcom’s decision had nothing to do with unionization.

At Capcom Next Summer 2024, it was confirmed that Resident Evil 9 is in development and is being fronted by Resident Evil 7’s Koshi Nakanishi.

With much murmuring and rumors bubbling about what’s going on with the survival horror juggernaut’s next entry, Nakanishi himself confirmed he’s heading up Resident Evil 9. However, he wasn’t too keen to give much away at this time.

Resident Evil 9 helmed by longtime series director

”We’re making a new Resident Evil,” Nakanishi said towards the end of the Capcom Next showcase. “It was really difficult to figure out what to do after (Resident Evil 7). But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can’t share any details just yet, but I hope you’re excited for the day I can.”

That’s about all we have regarding Resident Evil 9. Speculation about potential settings, characters, time periods, and more will undoubtedly continue. There had been murmurings of an open-world entry with Capcom utilizing what it has learned from Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds.

Nakanishi has plenty of Resi experience besides Resident Evil 7. He was a designer on Resident Evil 5 and directed Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D and Revelations.

Resident Evil 9 will have big shoes to fill after the staggering success of Village. The eighth entry sold 10 million units quicker than any other game in the series to date.

It’s been reported that while Capcom continues to look to the future, more remakes are incoming. Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica are allegedly getting the remake treatment next after successful remakes of the original four games over the years.

Capcom‘s Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster has a confirmed release date, and both a digital and physical edition are planned.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster release date and trailer

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will hit PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam on September 19, 2024, in digital form. A physical release will arrive sometime in November 2024. A Digital Deluxe edition will bring a horde of costumes and background music options based on classic Capcom franchises such as Resident Evil, Mega Man, and Street Fighter.

The updated version of the 2006 classic features improved visuals, controls, and an autosave function.

If you pre-order the game, you’ll earn yourself a classic 2006 Frank West costume. Just in case the new version doesn’t do it for you.

Check out the new trailer and details of the changes in the remaster below.

Say cheese! Everyone’s favorite zombie-hunting photojournalist, Frank West, is back in action with the beautifully remastered Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Reanimated from the ground up with Capcom’s RE ENGINE, this is the definitive remaster of the 2006 classic Dead Rising. The original delivered a fresh take on the zombie genre with incredible action, over-the-top combat, hordes of weapon choices, wacky costumes (trust us, they’re even wackier this time around), and a comedic yet compelling storyline.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster introduces freelance photojournalist Frank West as he ventures to Willamette, Colorado, after overhearing something going on in town. Frank soon finds out he is in the middle of a zombie takeover and has 72 hours to uncover the truth about this outbreak!

Key Features

  • Improved Graphics – Experience Willamette Parkview Mall being overrun by hordes of zombies like never before in up to 4K resolution with a 60 frames per second frame rate!
  • Updated Character Models – Introducing new, high-end character modeling for Frank West, the unhinged Psychopaths, NPCs like Brad, Jessie, Isabela, and the beloved Madonna, survivors of the outbreak, and the seemingly endless waves of zombies!
  • ¡Ola! Bonjour! Ciao! – For the first time ever, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster comes fully packed with voiceovers for all characters in nine different languages, including English, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Castilian Spanish, and Russian! The game will also have subtitles across 14 languages, including the aforementioned nine plus Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Polish, and Arabic! ¿¿Como se dice WOW??
  • Quality-of-(Undead) Life Improvements – Numerous adjustments and highly requested features have been added to the game, like:
  • Frank West now has the ability to move while aiming!
  • Aspiring photojournalists can customize action shots with filters to get the best glam shot of their favorite zombies!
  • Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster now has auto-save functionality! Need a bathroom break? Don’t worry…manual saves are still available when you need a breather.
  • All NPC and survivor interactions are now fully voiced!
  • New and improved NPC behaviors!
  • Real-time lighting and shadow effects!
  • More intuitive and user-friendly controls!
  • New fine-tuned user interface!

Dragon's Dogma 2 free trial

Capcom is offering a big chunk of Dragon’s Dogma 2 for free on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. The offer is open to all players and isn’t locked behind any expensive subscriptions like PS Plus Premium, but with the caveat that the free trial is available for a limited time only.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 free trial details and how to access

Players can check out up to two hours of Dragon’s Dogma 2 starting today until July 17th. Although nearly three weeks is enough time for players to give the game a go, for some reason, Xbox Series X|S and PC players get two extra days of the free trial. Capcom hasn’t explained why this is the case.

PS5 players can head over to the PS Store to download the content.

As for what the free trial entails, it’s simply the first two hours of Dragon’s Dogma 2, provided you don’t waste half that time creating characters. Capcom has recommended creating your Arisen and Pawn in advance with the free “Dragon’s Dogma 2 Character Creator & Storage” available via the PS Store because once you download and open the application on your console, the clock begins ticking.

All your progress will carry over to the full game, should you wish to purchase it. Coincidentally, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is on sale for the first time, giving players the opportunity to pick it up for 20% off until July 17.

Capcom has announced the date of its Capcom Next Summer 2024 broadcast, which will feature the recently announced Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

The second remaster of the 2006 zombie-smashing classic was revealed yesterday. A trailer teased a significant visual overhaul this time around. you can take a look at the trailer below.

The Capcom next Summer 2024 broadcast will be live on July 1, 2024, at 3 PM PT/ 6 PM ET. It’s set to run for 25 minutes and will also feature news on Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess and the iOS/Mac versions of Resident Evil 7.

We know very little about the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster outside that brief tease. Hopefully, Capcom’s next broadcast will reveal just what kind of remaster this is going to be. And hey, a release date would be nice, especially if it’s sooner rather than later.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess will arrive on PS4 and PS5 on July 19, 2024, so this will likely be the last good look at Capcom’s action strategy game before launch.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a unique Japanese-inspired, single-player Kagura Action Strategy game.

The game takes place on a mountain covered by defilement.
During the day, purify the villages and prepare yourself for sundown.
During the night, protect the Maiden against the hordes of the Seethe.

Repeat the day and night cycle until you cleanse the mountain of defilement and return peace to the land.

The broadcast will be available on YouTube in Japanese and in English.

Capcom announces Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Fans of zombie-killing action are in for a treat as Capcom announced the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster on Wednesday. The company hasn’t revealed much about the remaster, but fans at least have a new trailer to check out.

What has Capcom revealed about the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster?

“Coming to the newest generation of platforms,” says the trailer. “An updated release with a brand new look.” Fans also get a preview of this new look with a few clips from the game’s opening cinematic. While there’s no gameplay on display, fans do get a good look at the extra polygons on Frank West’s face. He also has a new voice, which some fans in the comments weren’t entirely on board with. Unfortunately, Capcom hasn’t announced a release date for the Dead Rising remaster.

It’s also worth noting that Capcom uses the word “remaster” rather than “remake.” The publisher’s been on a bit of a spree the last several years, releasing remakes of its other popular zombie series, Resident Evil. These will reportedly soon include Resident Evil 0 and Code: Veronica, though neither remake is officially confirmed. However, while the Resident Evil remakes made changes to content, the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is likely just a graphical overhaul.

As the trailer acknowledged, this the second time Capcom re-released the first Dead Rising with improved graphics. The first remaster was released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2016. However, that version will soon be as old as the original was when the first Dead Rising remaster came out.

resident evil 2 remake sales milestone

Capcom Development Studio 1 has celebrated the success of the Resident Evil 2 remake belatedly after it became the best-selling game in the series.

The developers were unable to celebrate Resident Evil 2 remake passing the 10 million milestone in 2022. However, recent financial reports revealed that the game has edged ahead of Resident Evil 7 and hit a whopping 13.9 million copies sold as of March 2024.

Resident Evil 2 remake devs hold belated celebration

”Resident Evil RE:2 surpassed 10 million copies sold in July 2022, and is currently the highest-selling game in the series, having sold over 13.9 million copies!
At the time, we were staying at home, so we weren’t able to celebrate, but we were finally able to do so ?
The positive feedback from everyone who has played the game is encouraging to all of our staff!”

The franchise revival that began with Resident Evil 7 has seen a real shift in the best-sellers list. Resident Evil 5 and 6 were the top sellers for some time, but since 2017, Resident Evil 7, 2 remake, and Village have all come into the converstation. Resident Evil 3 and 4 remakes are also not too far behind, with 8.7 and 7 million units sold, respectively.

The sales of the remake dwarf that of the original. The 1998 title has sold just under 5 million copies to date.
