Bubble Bobble III makes its way to modern-day consoles more than 30 years after its initial release. With the aid of magical parasols, Bubby and Bobby must save their neighboring planets from an evil menace. Other notable games include the dungeon builder Naheulbeuk’s Dungeon Master and the visual novel True Colours – A Date With Deception.

Elsewhere, third-person online co-op looter shooter The First Descendent will pit player-controlled Descendents against alien invaders taking over the planet of Ingris. There’s also The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak; the first game in the Trails Through Daybreak story arc finally makes its way west after a release in Japan two years ago.

Sony Interactive Entertainment launched the PlayStation VR2 last year, bringing virtual reality capabilities to the PlayStation 5. However, the platform has been struggling for some time, and it appears that Sony is losing faith. A recent report indicates that the publisher is scaling back support for new PSVR 2 games.

Is Sony giving up on PSVR 2?

According to Android Central, their sources indicate that Sony was cutting funding for PSVR 2 games. There are reportedly only two first-party games in development for that platform, and there will be few opportunities for more going forward. Sony has yet to comment on that report, though it’s a concerning sign for the future of the PS5’s VR system.

This is by no means the first indication that the $550 peripheral might be in trouble. News broke in March that Sony had paused production of the PSVR 2 due to the high number of unsold headsets. While many praise the system’s features and technical performance, its high price was cited as the primary factor in its poor sales.

The lack of games also isn’t a new problem for PSVR 2. Sony has only released a handful of first-party games for the platform and none in 2024. The publisher also shut down two of its VR studios, shuttering Blood & Truth developer London Studio and Firewall developer First Contact Entertainment.

Sony is releasing a PSVR 2 PC adapter next month, which could help sales by opening it to a larger market. However, with Sony reportedly scaling back its investment in new VR games, some might wonder how much longer it will take before Sony stops supporting it.

PlayStation VR2 owners will soon be able to use the virtual reality headset on their PC. The system’s PC adapter launches on August 7 and is compatible with games on Steam.

PSVR 2 comes to PC on August 7; price and system requirements revealed

Sony says the adapter will have an MSRP of $60, though users must purchase a separate DisplayPort 1.4 cable. Considering the PSVR 2 unit retails for $550, that brings the total up to $610 for the system and adapter. That’s about $110 more than the Meta Quest 3, so PC users will have to weigh the pros and cons of each system. However, PS5 users are the big winners here since they’ll be able to use the same headset and controller on PC and console.

The PSVR 2’s minimum requirements on PS are as follows:

• Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit / Windows 11 64-bit
• Processor: Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (Zen 2 or later)
• RAM: 8 GB or more
• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or later / NVIDIA RTX series / AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or later / AMD Radeon RX 6500XT or later
• DisplayPort 1.4
• Bluetooth 4.0 or later

Players will also need a Steam account to play games with the PSVR 2 on PC.

Sony also notes that users will experience differences when playing on PC compared to PS5. The following PSVR 2 features are not available on PC:

• HDR
• headset feedback
• eye tracking
• adaptive triggers
• haptic feedback (other than rumble)

PC-only users in particular should keep that in mind when deciding which system suits them best.

It looks like Sony’s gearing up to announce a release date for PSVR 2 PC integration, if an adapter certification is anything to go by. A “PlayStation VR 2 PC adapter” was certified in South Korea back in March, the listing for which has just appeared online.

PSVR 2 PC release date announcement expected in Summer 2024

Back in February, Sony briefly revealed that it was working to bring PSVR 2 support to PC, which would give the headset owners access to PC VR games as well. The company said that it would add PC support sometime in 2024, but we haven’t received any updates since.

The very next month, PSVR 2 received a system software update that enabled PC access, eliminating the need to use workarounds. However, players still needed an adapter to make things work, which officially isn’t available yet.

As spotted by X user Brad Lynch, Sony’s PSVR 2 adapter has since been certified, which indicates that PSVR 2 may add PC support as soon as Summer 2024.

The listing reveals that the adapters are being manufactured in China.

We’d insert some speculation of PSVR 2 PC support being announced at the rumored PlayStation Showcase, but it’s increasingly looking like those rumors are rubbish.

PlayStation’s Days of Play is going big for the PS Plus June 2024 games lineup. The bumper update features new PS2 classics such as Sly Cooper and Tomb Raider Legend. PSVR2 games will be on Premium, including Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord. And, of course, there is a new selection of monthly games as well.

PS Plus June 2024 games first wave brings fighting, VR, and a Sucker Punch classic

First up, the monthly games. Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake brings surreal platforming fun for the family. Then, a revival of the classic beat ’em up series joins the fight with Streets of Rage 4. Finally, grappling shenanigans ahoy as AEW Fight Forever rounds out the PS Plus June 2024 monthly games. These will all drop on June 4, 2024

The PS Plus June 2024 Games Catalog hasn’t been fully revealed, but what is there is cause for celebration. Firstly, PSVR2 games join the service on the Premium tier.
